- Step 1
Sketch a "wire frame" of your website or a sketch of the arrangement of relevant information on each page of your website. Give thought to the logical sequence of information for your website and how a user should be navigate it.
- Step 2
Using your wire frame sketch and image editing software, design your website. Your website should accommodate common screen resolutions such as 1200 x 768 pixels. Design your website to a width of approximately 900 pixels. This accommodates most modern monitors.
- Step 3
Use XHTML or eXtensible Hypertext Markup Language, to markup the information you'll need to present on each page. Make sure that the page is structured in a neat and logical fashion.
- Step 4
Use CSS to manipulate the document you created until it looks like the mock-up sketch you created.

How to Build the Website
Building websites is an active, exciting and constantly changing profession. Building websites of a professional quality is extremely time consuming and acquiring the requisite skill can take years. The quality of web design professionals differs widely. It's very possible for someone with little or no web expertise to create a passable "professional" website, but you should have a basic knowledge of XHTML or CSS or even it is possible by some friendly programs such FrontPage. Additionally, learning to build professional caliber websites is a highly marketable and profitable skill. In a world where the Internet is as important as it is, employers are willing to pay a premium for web expertise.
